Saying Good-bye to Grandma Funk

We said good-bye to Grandma Funk a few weeks ago. She peacefully passed away in the early morning of Tuesday, November 12th.

I only knew her for four years, but she was very special to me!  I feel so privileged to have known her and that she considered me her granddaughter.

The stories Isaac tells me of special times growing up with Granny make me smile. She loved her children and grandchildren so deeply! She made each one feel like they were her very favorite. She loved music and passing down her songs and that love for music was so important to her. At her gravesite, all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren sang - I could not stop crying just thinking about how deeply she loved us each and how big her smile would be if she was sitting there listening.

Her 82nd birthday was Friday, November 15th - the day of her visitation. Aunt Mary got her a beautiful cake and a special birthday bouquet to celebrate. We all smiled at how much she loved getting the family together - even in her death, she was gathering us all to celebrate her life.

A few memories with Grandma:

The Funk family Christmas 2018 - she loved having her whole family gathered around her & this yearly Christmas gathering was such a highlight for her and all of us.

I love this one of Isaac and Grandma making eye contact. I have no doubt she was teasing him or telling him some silly story.

Grandma collected beautiful dishes and loved talking about them and passing them down to her grandchildren. This evening shortly before we moved, she had us over and gave us a beautiful set of her dishes. We didn't realize then that was the last time we would spend time with her at her house. A memory we treasure!

Grandma, you are so missed. We love you & treasure the memory of you. Looking forward to the day we are reunited in heaven!
